Ricardo -> RE: Warming up - The hidden feeling (Mar. 29 2006 23:13:57)

If I am physically cold, a glass of red wine warms my blood and I am ready to play. To play my best, I need to have played through at least 2 challenging pieces that have some arpeggios and stuff, I say 10 minutes? But really the thing I need to do well is inspiration. After I play for an hour, I might start running low on energy unless I am in the mood. Also, I often have to play accomp. for dance or cante, then do a solo. I usually don't feel ready after just doing lots of rasgueados. My fingers need more arpeggio stuff to feel warm and ready. PDL always starts his concert with Rondena, free stuff, then speeds up with a little picado. Then bulerias really warms him up for something like La Barrosa which is the real challenge. Ricardo
