What I’m asking is how can a specific luthier produce guitars that consistently have a certain sound? With some luthiers you can tell from the sound who the maker was. The difference in tone can be as distinct as the well-known models of electric guitars. Flamenco guitar builders all seem to be using the same tone woods - often procured from the same suppliers - and many are using the same basic plans. Is it their attention to detail during the various processes? Have they come up with their own version of the different subcomponents of the instrument? Do they have some sort of feel for certain parts of the build? Is it art? Is it science? Does the process eventually become guided by intuition and a connection with the materials used?

All of the above.
