Looks interesting and precise. I'll be curious to hear it.

Ethan,
#14 went away after only about an hour of playing, had some issues with payment so she came back to the workshop :/ I took her to the gallery right away where I sell my guitars, if I wasn’t so an embarrassing bad a player I would record…

My #15 was commissioned by a gent who bought one of my early Flamencas but he asked if I would build him a ‘Classical’ so I’m building her with that in mind. Only my second WRC top, and the only difference with the WRC bracing from my already non standard radial system is making the center sound bar go from the lower lateral brace all the way to the tail block, for my flamenco I stop the center brace under the bridge and aft of the bridge I only add a few short thin cross braces.

To be honest I don’t think following the usual standard ‘make the WRC top a little thicker’ is really a good idea for this cedar. The AYC one is boxed up and I feel she is still a little too tight? Still being a classical I’m going to roll with it. And because I’m a complete heretic, I’m sending this one to Rob at Vancouver Guitar Finishing for his poly process once Ive got her strung up for a few weeks in the white, or rather yellow ;) She is going to Georgia and we decided this was best for the humid southern environment.

The next WRC top is going to much thinner, AYC but thinking red instead of green trim, this one is going to be mine, 666mm scale, the neck is already built up Poplar for light weight, hickory headstock to lock in the string energy, and a full depth double carbon fiber web, (the black lines in the maple neck up thread are carbon fiber also as is the black line between the headstock veneer) I’ve got some black Corian for the pegs, nut and saddle but I might get some red!. Cant say I’m not having fun with the creative process.

HR

Yeah, I'm working on a blanca using that extremely dense WRC. When I thinned the top to 2.5 mm, the unusual tap tone was much more...usual. I just closed the box and it sounds pretty normal when tapped.

I really like the fan style rosette.

ernandez R -> RE: HR's shop 8/2022 (Aug. 20 2022 19:41:36)

Thanx Rob.

There are an echo of the turn of the century rosette that had the starburst triangles arranged around the sound hole, might be more of a French Romantic theme less Spanish?

The following photos was just playing around with some ideas on the same theme but have not used.

Mostly pulled it out of my posterior… started with a scratch then produced output. Like I mentioned upthread: an offshoot of those starburst Rosettes from the late 1800’s
