constructordeguitarras -> Please recommend a luthier in London (Sep. 29 2021 17:53:03)

I recently sent a flamenca blanca guitar to a customer in London, UK, and although the action was fine for a few days before I sent off the guitar, it was too low when the guitar arrived in London. I expect that it will return to it's earlier state but in case it doesn't, can you suggest someone (yourself?) in London to make a new saddle?

Would it not be easier to send a higher saddle by post?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think the owner of the guitar would be able to adjust it to the correct height.

Ethan,

I live in London and there are many luthiers in and around London than can sort out a saddle for a flamenco guitar.

Do you know which part of London your customer is in?

On the West, there's Charlie Chandler. In the South, there's Feline Guitars in Croydon, a few good ones in the North as well. LA Guitars comes to mind. They are all excellent luthiers, making a new saddle for a flamenco wouldn't be a difficult job for them.

Depending on which part of London he's in, going across the city can be a bit of a nightmare, but there are a lot of good local luthiers whichever part of your London you are in, but if he's in the South side of things, a trip to Stephen Eden
makes a lot of sense.

Also, the weather's on the turn in London right now, I imagine it will settle in a few days.

Celine is a luthier as well as doing repairs. She has made a good repair on a crack in a guitar, and has made a saddle for me. She's moved to South London, now that Denmark street is being redeveloped.

If I had a difficult repair I think I would go to Stephen Eden. I think he was taught by Pablo Requena? In the past Pablo has done some amazing repair work for me, but now he has moved back to Spain.

I was indeed, that was almost 15 years ago now! Time flies.

Thanks Orson and Stephen.
I had the customer measure the saddle I put on the guitar and tell me how much higher he wants it, and made him a new one and sent it off, by regular mail which should take two weeks. I'll let him know your suggestions in case that doesn't work.

Just as he received the new saddle and shims I sent, the guitar went back to the way it was when I sent it. I guess it was jet lag.
