etta -> Too many guitars by same builder?? (Jul. 1 2021 16:28:34)

I now have five guitars by Glenn Canin. I play one or two of them everyday, and find that they all have unique voices and characteristics. I have owned or played a number of fine guitars by F. Manzanero, Barba, J. ,Hernandez y Aguado, Ramirez, Gerundino, A. Fernandez and J. Plazuelo. Of the above the Plazuelo was the best and the worst was the H. Conde (heavy, lifeless). But, it is unfair to judge a builder by one example; in the case of G. Canin they all have been consistently strong, ultra responsive, and with consistently fine playing action, using the same strings on all examples. Canin made three of the guitars for me; the others I bought or traded for as used instruments. I sold to a professional player one of the guitars made for me and have regretted letting it go. But at least I only have five instead of six by the same builder. The quality has been consistent, and Canin's very early #13 is one of the finest guitars of the whole lot. I never intended to own this many guitars but at my age what the heck? I enjoy them everyday. My experience with famous name builders may indicate that one should be aware and try as many examples as possible.
