Seems a pity to waste a thread

John,

Your guitar is very impressive.

It seems that this guy promoting the Navarro brand has done this before; maybe some sort of marketing procedure, who knows?

I've always been impressed with Poncho's guitars but he has a decided Mexico temperament that was hard to wean him off of, mainly the transition to a flat top, like Reyes, and a correct style bridge, which would bring the sound more in line with the Spanish idiom.

Nevertheless, Poncho's guitars are world class.

But I think I like John's guitar better.

Tom, I value your experience with great spanish flamenco guitars and your good ear so I appreciate your opinion greatly, thanks.

John,

You know how hard it is for a builder to gain recognition for his art. And there is always going to be differences of opinion from one builder to another.

Poncho Navarro is a good builder who has worked hard to fit in with his peers who control the market with their prize possessions, and no doubt he has come a long way.

But what I've noticed with the Mexico builders is that they have had trouble adopting certain Spanish characteristics that sets Spain apart from the rest of Europe. It seems the Spanish builder owns; not necessarily a better instrument build but certainly a higher position of knowledge in his style.

Will other builders catch up to the Spanish tonal qualities? Yes, I believe they will, based on sheer accumulation of information. But for Navarro to catch up to your present build, he will have to work hard to compete with the Spanish propio sello, (personal stamp)[;)]
