Many thanks for the article Paul. I have read about 3/4 of it, and will finish it later. I became aware of Escudero in 1962 when I was stationed in the Army on the East Coast, and made it to New York City frequently on weekends. I didn't realize there was a near miss in the Spring of 1955, when Escudero performed in Washington, DC. I was in my last year in high school, and was immersed in the classical, jazz and mambo scenes, totally unaware of flamenco. I have learned a lot more from the article. The old Austin Guitar Society (not the present Austin Classical Guitar Society) put on a concert by Escudero in the early 1970s. It sold out the 1,200-seat Hogg auditorium on the University of Texas campus. I think I may have been vice president of the society, but I had to be out of town on business and missed the concert.
