Never knew this place had flamencos before... LOL

https://cartervintage.com/collections/classical-guitars?sort_by=price-descending

Has anyone checked them out? They're 10 mins driving from me.

I'm thinking of booking an appointment to go play some of their $10K flamenco guitars.

Do y'all think that'd be rude of me if I finish playing then say thanks and leave? [:D]

Enjoy an afternoon playing! The guitars are priced to keep, not to sell.

Schieper -> RE: Carter Vintage Guitars (Jan. 6 2021 11:35:11)

Not rude at all... a guitar in this price range is after all a very personal thing.

.. and let us know how the experience was and if you discovered anything new.

I doubt they’d have a problem if you are respectful of their property and don’t abuse the instruments.

I’m pretty sure that’s why there’s so many stories told of small shop makers handing over a cheap guitar first and watching the person play before letting them at “the good stuff”. They don’t really care about how good the player is, they’re just watching their hands to make sure that they’re being careful. Scratching guitars is the same as taking money out of the pocket of the shop owner and throwing it out the window.

Oh yeah cool, I’ve seen some of there videos!

55k dollars for a Fleta? What a steal!

You should definitely go and let us know your thoughts on the guitars. Make sure to introduce yourself as Dr Ramzi. I’m sure they might actually be pleased to have someone who actually knows how to play flamenco come on and try them out!

Cervantes -> RE: Carter Vintage Guitars (Jan. 7 2021 15:42:35)

Ramzi,

You play like a pro so they would probably appreciate somebody who makes those guitars sound like they are supposed to.
Maybe they would even hire you to do some recordings. Take your Andy Culpepper and tell us how it compares.

Joel

Looking at their webpage, they appear to be a well established business with quite an extensive inventory of high end instruments. That they offer a 48 hour trial period suggests they’re pretty approachable. I suspect the ‘by appointment’ restriction is solely due to the pandemic, and they’d have no problem at all with a competent player such as yourself playing the instruments.

P.S. if you do go, you should see if they’ll let you try the ‘58 Strat, only $34,500 [sm=Smiley Guitar.gif]

I think it would be fine, neither disingenuous or rude, for you to go with the idea of asking to see and compare their guitars.
Who knows what you might be inspired to do then, or later, or tell your friends, or review here...
I'm personally a bit curious abut the Kono flamenco ( https://cartervintage.com/collections/classical-guitars/products/kono-early-kohno-flamenco-1961 ). So if you do go, i'd appreciate hearing think about that one, at the least.

The 2007 conde with white plates... pretty sure that thing is the special 1953 replica...made to pay homage to the first known “media Luna”. I had one actual 1953 with the same rosette “viuda de Domingo Esteso” that I was considering for a week. It had the older M. Ramirez head style. I inquired at guitar salon...this one was $14k and the one I had they said 5K only depending on condition. Yep $9000 just for the tiny head cut!

Anyway that makes it half price over there, what a steal! [:D]
