Jay4Jay -> Yamaha cg182sf - natural gloss - matt finish confusion (Jan. 1 2021 12:18:18)

The Yamaha cg182sf is described as "natural gloss" on websites from webshops, although the specifications on those same sites show that neck finish and body finish are matt. See example pictures and hyperlinks to websites .
Is natural gloss another name for matt , or what's going on ?

Wrote an email to the listed webshops and received a reply from one of them
"I have investigated this, and the guitar is a Matt finish not a Gloss finish. Our listing will be changed shortly."

Agua! Glad you got this resolved.

Just curious - what difference does it make to you if the finish is glossy or matte?

There's difference in sound, durability, maintenance, looks, price.

In the longer run, matt finished guitars will often show shiny spots where the player contacts the guitar with skin (hand/arm).
For example on the body (top) and neck.
On the other hand, matt finished guitars are said to produce a better sound.
