Piwin -> Paco Ibañez interview (Nov. 24 2020 16:41:13)

Bits and pieces of his life, opinions, etc. (in Spanish)

Some nice little gems in there, like: "Comparing Piaf to Damia is like comparing Pepe Pinto to Mairena." [:D]
God, I love that man. He turned 86 last week, so a belated happy birthday to him. His 2020 tour was interrupted by covid but I hope to see him on stage again in 2021.

I got my wish. [:)] Not in 2021, but in 2022. 87 and still as powerful as he ever was on stage.

Here with a poem by Gabriel Celaya.

I had never heard of him. It's really good. I'm diving into it :)

Glad you liked it. [:)]

Aside from the music itself, it's also a great introduction to Spanish poetry, since almost all of his work is Spanish (in the sense of "Spanish-speaking") poetry put to song.

One iconic concert was when he shared the stage with Rafael Alberti (a poet of the generation of 27), with reading followed by song. The ending has Alberti singing along to one of his own poems, which I found rather moving.
