He looks just like my neighbour in Restábal. Everyone called him "Elvis". A right rascal he was. He was having an affair with the egg girl, who I was also seeing, and everything went nuclear when his wife found out!

Straight out of flamenco cante.

He has an amazing quejio when singing Fandangos. One of my favorite compilation discs is Sordera, Gordito de Triana, and Chocolate doing round after round of Fandangos.

At some point during his interview on this program (Rito y geografia), he sings some popular song with a “normal” voice, meaning he makes it obvious this heavy Flamenco sound he gets with his voice is all technique.

Finally after ten years I have unpacked my LPs. Setting up the turntable, the first disc that came to hand to make sure the new cartridge and preamp were at least producing sound, was Chocolate.

I forgot about precise tracking force, vertical tracking angle, overhang and impedance. I just sat down and listened.
