Pretty impressed with these strings. They seem to be high quality and the basses last a while. They are VERY bright - even the basses are bright.

After going through 3 sets of the Flamenco normal tension Conde strings I put on a set of Luthier pop 20’s ( 1 set left!) and I though the Condes sounded brighter. I wish they made a medium high tension set though. The normal tension is about the same as D’Adarrio normal.

Thanks, Jason -- nice data point. My Luthier 20s are almost gone, too, and I also am practicing the triage method someone else stated earlier: Used only when medically necessary![8D]

Hello. Thank you very much for sharing that great news!

I have read through conde's site and strinsbymail and came to the conclusion that the normal tension is the lowest they offer. After that there is a medium tension which is like medium-hard and of course the hard tension in a violet colored box. Having the numbers 860, 870, 880.

Which is the one you are trying? If you are playing the normal and feels too soft (like D'Addario Ej45) but you want a bit harder (like Luthier 20's) you might have to go a bit higher in their flamenco sets.

I was using the 870 - medium tension. Good point about the three different tensions. On the back of the package it says the high e string is 0,73mm. Which is 0.0287 inches versus 0.028 for the DAdarrio. So roughly the same for comparison. I think the Luthier pop supreme 20 is 0.030 inches.

I have tried the medium tension strings and find them great. However one major issue with them is that they are only sold in complete sets. As everybody knows trebles last longer than bass sets and D strings break every few weeks. Having to buy a complete full set every time a 4th string breaks makes them too expensive as an option.

With a bit of research you will probably find the same individual strings from the actual string manufacturer, if you really like those strings.

It's not like Felipe's apprentice is sitting in the workshop extruding strings.

It's just a mix of carbon, nylon, higher content silver bass strings, this and that tension from other sets of a manufacturer, with a new name on them.
