Hi,

here the workshop blog address still on the web

http://news-from-the-workshop.blogspot.com/

....altough I don't know if Anders is still making guitars because there is no news after 2019 in the bog. Ha left the foro for some reasons. In my believe is that all of us didn't do enough to convince him to remain. Gentleman and great luthier...he moved back to his County from Spain after his wife's death.

ciao
Giambattista

Why should anybody expect that? I didn’t get the impression he did. He basically said he was finding online interactions weren’t meshing well with his life’s current direction and moved on. No harm, no foul.

He didn’t visit us at all in 2019, but I remember he popped in to give condolences the Kevin Richards luthier back in February. I for one was relieved that he still lurks around here, even if he doesn’t post. He might pop in again.

As I recall Anders was getting somewhat fed up with Spain for some reason (various hassles, I think) and moved back to Denmark. I seem to recall he mentioned he might build a boat. I have no idea if he continued to make guitars.

I remember Anders as a consummate luthier, one who built violins, and other musical instruments. Boat building was part of his credit to being a wood worker.

Things have changed since he went home but hopefully not that he won't drop us a line.

Just to get a sense of how long his website might have been offline, i punched it in on TheWaybackMachine and the last cache was back in August of 2019, nothing shows for 2020, so it could have been offline all year.

I wonder if he needed a change and quit. I remember him saying he hadn’t been playing flamenco for a long time and was more interested in fiddle/violin

Thank you for your info about Anders!

I still remember when he went to Denmark and noticed him making violins. I also remember to have been on his blog.

Living outsinde of Spain exclusivly making flamenco guitars is a very hard business. I think violins have a much higher demand and it is easier to sell them. His flamencas make good figure with those of double the price. I still dream of one his negras.

He's probably somewhere floating on the ocean in a boat.

Ramzi I really enjoyed that. Last heard from Anders 1st January 2019. Hope he is well.

and why not ?,
people so different in age, country of origin, ideas and opinions, have found a meeting point in this forum. Does it seem little? ... I am 63, I am Italian and moreover southern, that is to say that part of my roots are in the Arab, North African and Greek culture: friendship and meeting with other people - also in the forms allowed by the means of modernity such as this forum - have a very high value.
And isn't part of flamenco itself a celebration of being together?

ciao,
Giambattista

Honestly, why? Maybe I’m misunderstanding you, but why should the Foro be obliged to try to convince someone to stay if they want to leave? I don’t think the Foro was unwelcoming to Anders in any way, was it? If anything, he was afforded almost celebrity status here. Plus, I think he’s still a member and can post whenever he chooses, so really, it’s up to him.

Again, maybe I’m misunderstanding something.

Nobody has to or is obliged to.
On the other side, some people of the foro have been particularly generous throughout the years and somehow ended up assuming a central role in many topics. If suddenly they felt uncomfortable here, something must have happened with the result of a general loss. We all know there are real people behind the nicknames and people get hurt.
Anyway, I also agree everybody is free to stay or leave, write or not. There’s a good chance people may just loose interest and personal stuff going on in real life get rightly the priority. I suppose the latter may be the case. Just my 2 cents.

I think, in this case, I would appear to be a lot less insensitive if you would have included my entire paragraph in your quote copy. I did kind of address what you are saying in the subsequent sentences.

Anyone can read through old posts if they want to get a sense of what was going on. I thought Anders was pretty open about the reasons he was going to stop posting. I don’t know if that included to his boating forums, too, but I thought he implied he was backing away from his internet involvement, in general. At any rate, and as I said, he’s still a member here and can speak for himself. I intended no disrespect to him.

Ahhh, maybe I am insensitive....[:(]

Echi -> RE: Anders Eliasson´s Website? (Nov. 12 2020 14:36:52)

Rob, I didn’t mean to make you appear insensitive etc.
I quoted just the part I was replying to for the sake of clarity.
The last part of my post was not in contrast with what you said.
