Any poets out there your talents would be appreciated. And maybe this could fill a little of your time beyond me being very grateful.

I've been challenged to produce a topical (re-lockdown) Fandangos with lyrics in English. It's for a guitar club in England and this will be their first taste of flamenco.

The guitar part is the easy bit. The usual rueda cante generica. And even on their acoustics it'll sound ok.

But I need some lyrics. The form of the lyrics is:

Tú no te llamas María (8)
ni carmela ni pilar (7)
te llamarás cada día (8)
como te quieran llamar (7)
por ser mujer de la vía (7)

The number of syllables in brackets.

If anyone can offer just words (in 2s or 3s) that rhyme and relate to the subject that would be good. If anyone can suggest a verse that would be tremendous [:D]

I'll post the result whatever and perhaps we could see what quality of cantaores we have amongst us. Cheers

María had married a freak
Whose face looked like a butt cheek
After two long weeks in lock-down
Angry, she hit him, up, down
Never seen a butt cheek frown.

(come on, you knew I would write something stupid! [:D][8D])

There once was a man named Diego
Who liked to play fandango
He played outside at all hours
Never stopped to take showers
That’s why he caught covido

(lol, sorry man. I just can't come up with anything serious...)

OK, OK, last one, I promise [8D]:

On the empty streets of Cadiz
Nothing: silence, quiet, peace.
Then, sound, barely discernible
A falseta, played in full
Then, an angry shout: Nigel!

But man there's something there I can work with. Have a virtual glass of the finest on me [:D]

Oh God... Then for the record: I hereby reject any and all liability that may arise from the use of the above texts as inspiration for serious lyrics.

Not as easy as it looks. So much for Piwin inspiration [;)]

You cannot say that I’m morbid
Studying the graphs each day
Nothing about it is sordid
I’m just looking for a way
To say goodbye to corvid.

Sitting in my limited zone
With spot the dog at my side
Still I cannot buy him a bone
Till the government decide
But at least I am not alone.

One day this will be history
And we’ll tell the kids with delight
Of our role in this dark story
How we put up such a great fight
They won’t believe us of course.

OK back to the drawing board [8D]

Isn't this 8 syllables, not 7? I.e. isn't "via" two syllables?

If so, THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING!

Konstantin many many thanks for pointing that out. And that made me look more and I see not only is 8 syllables correct in the above case but I've now found very many letras where the lines have variable numbers of syllables. I need to track down more recordings and see how the singer handles that.

That's the problem with not being able to sing or have any musical theory.

Anyway in the quiet of my room I'll try to play and sing along with recordings and hopefully it will come together (without the neighbours banging on the walls [:-]). But still can't get Boris in to anything. Or China for that matter.
