Thanks Mark! I listened to a couple of cuts on some good headphones. Pretty good for mp3's.

Thanks for the links Mark. Had never heard some of this material before.

A little confusion here. Are these mp3's taken from normal albums or are they rare recordings of Sabicas?

Sorry guys but “Flamenco Fever” is the cheesiest American marketing label ever after flamenco “fire” of course.

I think the cheesiest marketing label I have ever come across was on the playbills and ads for the Gipsy Kings when they performed at Wolf Trap in Northern Virginia a few years ago. It read that the Gipsy Kings would play "fiery flamenco songs like Bamboleo." That was not only cheesy, it was flat out false in its depiction of Bamboleo as flamenco. Talk about "truth in marketing."

Well, if you’re a bit loose with your definitions, I suppose you could classify Bamboleo as a rumba?

both i guess... they were originally released as LP's (the dates are discussed in the articles), and haven't been re-released on CD.

I have in the past paid for mp3 downloads from Amazon but the quality was so bad I won't ever again. As soon as I put it into my software programme to slow down, loop etc. they become unlistenable.

I can’t say I’m astonished: Sabicas MP3 albums have proliferated to such a ludicrous extent that I’d be astonished if they were all legitimate.

My condolences.

Flaming Flamenco Guitar and Flamenco Reflections are two of the best.

(I remember to this day how ecstatic I was on find finding that the double-tracked numbers on both have one guitar coming out of each speaker.)

They weren't Sabicas, they were recent releases, modern recordings.

here a link to two more. I already have one of these on CD which has been re-released many times under various titles:
