One example of a flamenco piece where you need to be able to place A and M two frets apart is PdL's "Reflejo de Luna", in the tremolo section (around 1:23):

I play duets with my prof. We can play simultaneous notes that are miles apart on the fret board [:D]

Seriously a beginner like me needs to be careful. I tried a stretched chord (Fmaj7/A with fingers on 3rd, 5th and 7th frets) yesterday. It didn't seem extreme or uncomfortable but suddenly something gave. Took several hours for the pain to go.

I have worked through that piece quite a few times but have set it aside for now but hope when I take it up again it will be less difficult. The tremolo section is a bit of a hurdle but like most pieces in flamenco the fingerings seem unusual to me.

Cheers

That is pretty crazy My top stretch is F to B. I have puny hands though.

I see only one fret between A and M. 2 frets would be a torture to our fingers.
Guys be careful. I hurt my index finger.

Depends how you count [:D]

but yes, we mean the same thing.

No more complaints about short fingers. I wish I had started playing guitar so early. Btw, a nice picado run at 0:10. Still better than my picado. Makes me want to practice more.

Can you guys do this stretch?

Luciano’s tutorial of Vicente’s paseo de gracia, the first F#9 chord but with the added passing note of F in the arpeggio. That’s a 5 fretter! Can’t do it !

I can play that F#9 chord. But this extra stretch to the F note needs time. I played it 2 times and my index finger hurt. So I stopped.

You don’t have to hear the g# against the brief F, so you can let go and replace the pinky quickly.
