Playing super fast evenly spaced picado, clean executed arpeggio or tremolo would sound nice and definitely attract many people. But only for the first few seconds or minutes. After that the surprise effect will fade out soon. Mr. Wooten also mentioned it. This makes the audience be quite and listen to it. That's all. Playing simple stuff with feeling is more than that. It'll make most, if not all, people sitting in the audience want to listen to it longer. And the next day they want to listen to it again and again. A hook of a song has the same effect. As for BB King, David Russell said in his interview that Segovia had the ability to play that one important note of a phrase and make the whole phrase sound magical. This is also what BB King was doing all the time. I think it's about articulation, dynamics, timing and rhythm. For that one doesn't need a high level technique. It's all about feeling. From what I know is there is less connection between a world class technique and creativity. At least, as far as writing a hit song is concerned. Composition can be different.
