The issue is the speed at which the change occurs and keeping humidity in the case and a slow “weening off” the amount in the case is ideal, even if that means the guitar remains in an environment normally considered “too high” humidity.

Makes sense. I guess I was thinking more "in general" - if one's room is at 50%, why start using a humidifier at all. I also assume that current guitar humidifiers only work one way - to humidify - rather than both ways - I don't know if this is still correct. If they also bring down humidity when it is too high, then I can see them being more useful in "humid enough and beyond" environment. As you say, however, the biggest issue is the speed of humidity change, specifically from higher to lower humidity. We need "tempered" wood, like tempered glass [;)]

To clarify 50%, I measured 50% the day I wrote the post, but it's not at all the common value, especially in the spring/summer. Until winter it's gonna be more like 30-35%.

Btw, managing the humidity now is hell! Getting one humidipack bag out of three out of the case leaves me with 50% humidity, while having all three increases it even to 70%, no middle. I guess leaving it with three bags and hoping that it will gradually and safely wear off over time is not really a good option. The other option is to get a humidifier and completely control the room 24/7, but a good one is not that cheap though. Probably gonna get a used one, will see...
