I didn't expect such reaction from you. Your reaction was as if my question pissed you off because I rejected your answer and kept asking questions. This is not true. I asked a final question about that matter because I felt it's worth asking. You're a teacher.

C’mon man, it’s not like you rejected his answer, it’s more like you didn’t listen to him at all. Go back and reread his post, the one he sent just before you asked your question, he said there were no fixed rules and you immediately responded asking why the singer didn’t follow the rules he had just said were mutable. I realize you were probably still following up on an earlier thought, and posting a quote might’ve helped. But he actually had literally just finished answering your question.

Ricardo has been so patient with addressing questions on here, sometimes in extreme detail. It’s a kindness, it’s not like his time is free, those answers don’t write themselves. We should be sending him flowers or a bottle of Scotch or something or, at least, Racer X T-shirts. It’s not like he owes us anything and, to his credit, he’s never asked for anything in return. We should be grateful.

The planets must be lined up in some kind of messed up pattern today, that’s all I can say.

I know. I always appreciated his answers. Mr. Marlow has been the main pillar of the foro. Sometimes I think without him the foro wouldve been a different place. But today I was a bit disappionted by his reaction.

Well, it was already explained clearly. Right before. I made an analogy to game play cuz yes it’s like a game. But you don’t always accept the answers, in fact rarely. You can learn the hard way by filtering everything through your preconceptions or stop the push back and listen up.

Amen to that , Reverend! I know he likes guitars as gift ideas lol.

Llamadas, I learned in dance class that it was to signal for the singer. So I wrongly assumed it might also apply for just cante accompaniment. No need to re hash an explanation , I’m sure this topic has come up before.

Talking about real flamenco, When your at a flamenco Juerga or party, obviously no one is going have a pre rehearsal and work everything out before hand. If you know accompaniment you can participate without knowing what some new guy is going to sing.

These days I'm reading Jaleo a lot. Today I read this on Jan. 1979 edition. Makes more sense now.

Are you refering to a newspaper/magazine called "Jaleo"?
If so, since it's from 1979, is it freely available to read on the internet?

Reminds me of Manolo sanlucar’s book intro where he was invited by an aficionado to a Juerga after a concert where the “real duende” was expected to happen. Manolo responded with sarcasm , “ Oh wow, I hope you will have vino de jerez, and a little plate of cheese and olives”.... meaning, the stereotype of flamenco revealed by quotes such as the one from “jaleo” serve to misrepresent the art.

You want to point out there's not a strict line between a show and juerga?
The quote is informative enough for me. To me the main point is what is juerga and not what can happen at a juerga. We all know the existence of duende is controversial.

Yes, Jaleo is a magazine. I think the frist issue was released in Aug. 1977 as you can see here and read them for free.

RobF -> RE: The structure of palos (Sep. 23 2020 23:30:46)

Thanks for the link to Jaleo!

Right away I found an interesting issue with two articles on Marcelo Barbero. I’ll be leafing through these for a while...
