Here’s an interesting little movie. It’s a Japanese made-for-television feature that was filmed in Sacromonte in the early 1980’s. While the protagonist is a Japanese actress, many of the other characters in the film are played by locals.
Highlights are interludes of cante, baile, and guitar, visits to the workshop of a younger Antonio Marin and another maker, who play themselves and talk a bit about guitar making, and the scenes of Sacromonte and Granada from that era, in general.
Video quality isn’t great, but it gives a glimpse into how life was there during that time. I found it to be charming.
Thanks for this rare video. Gotta love the scene 32:00 onwards where Antonio Marin and the Japanese woman polish those beautiful negras. I want both negras right here right now. Any ideas people? Time machine?
