flyeogh -> Getting flamenco guitar learners together (Sep. 28 2019 20:05:16)

A few weeks ago I was back in the UK for a couple of weeks without guitar. I stayed a couple of days with a mate near Rochester in Kent. He is learning electric and steel string accoustic. He is also having vocal lessons.

Luckily for his wife he has a cabin (you can sit 8 in a circle easily) at the bottom of the garden where he practises. He has managed to get a regular group together. They agree on a couple of songs and do their best to get something going (if only strumming chords). Although there is the old problem of distinct abilities, plus different tastes, and different levels of dedication, the majority of attendees find the sessions useful.

I wondered if anyone had tried this with flamenco guitar, or even guitar and cante/bailar.

I've never heard it mentioned here in Cadiz but equally the spanish are very family oriented so it might be hard for outsiders to break into the scene as it were. Especially with the gitano, learnt by watching my dad, syndrome.

I'd certainly be up to giving it a go. If nothing else we could sink beers and Jerez [:D]

Has anyone experienced such events? And was there a benefit (beyond getting blotto [8|])
