Lucerom -> Any Ojos De Brujo Tabs? (Feb. 14 2006 19:47:30)

Hello All,

I've just recently discovered this collective group from Barcelona called Ojos de Brujo.

Have any of you transcribed thier music? If so, please post? I will be your best friend[sm=Smiley Guitar.gif]

Gracias

They are very big in Spain. Welcome but very unlikely to get a tab, a modern flamenco fusion like Ojos. Many do not consider them in flamenco compas, but I have a CD and it rocks anyway.

I play along to the cd called "bari" sometimes. i think thats the name anyway.
They have a new cd out now.

Escribano – I kinda figured that Ojos might be shunned by some of the traditionalists in here, but I thought I’d throw it out there. Thanks for the heads up and for stepping up to say that you are an Ojos fan.

Duende/Henrik – I can’t wait for their new CD release on Feb 20th. I’ve already checked out their new sound bites on Flamneco-world.com. Can you play that son Tesro?

A word to the close minded:

While I thoroughly enjoy and respect traditional flamenco, I think we should keep our minds and hearts open to fusion groups such as Ojos de Brujo and Gipsy Kings. After all, isn’t there a category in flamenco called “Toques Libres” (a.k.a. Non-Rhythmic Styles) such as Mineras, Tarantas, and Granadinas? Wouldn’t Rumbas and Rumbas Catalanas fall into that category?

After all, what would Rock n’ Roll be like today if we never experimented beyond traditional rock like Elvis, Buddy Holly, and the Big Bopper? Are the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and U2 not considered rock, because they were born outside of the USA, or because they add distortion, play faster, and do not have that Rock-a-Billy look?

Here’s a new quote for the traditionalists, “Think Outside the Cajón”.

They are far better known outside Spain than inside, they sold over 17,000 copies of Bari in the UK alone where they were voted best world music band 2004 by Radio 4. Personally I consider them to be pop and nothing like flamenco at all. I've probably done this topic to death so wont go on, except to say I have seen them several times and enjoyed them but still have to agree with the critic that claimed the dancer was about as flamenco as a drunk Manchester housewife on the Costa.
You can get all their lyrics here

I stand corrected but I still like them[;)]

So does that mean there are no tabs available for Ojos?

I'd be happy with a link to their tabs...

Thanks for the feedback everybody!

Its not surprising everyone says this as it is part of their publicity blurb, that they are so popular in Spain. I also like them but by no stretch of the imagination could call them flamenco and I am by no means a purist or traditionalist. I just know if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck then its a duck, if it starts going moooo its a cow [;)]
