larone -> any advice on the " B Band" pick up system? (Feb. 13 2006 22:26:52)

Hi there crew, i was thinking about getting one of these pick ups for my guitar. It has a mic and pick up blending system so it amplifies the sound of the guitar while being able to get more volume with the pick up......i think [8|]
Has anyone used one of these systems??
Check it out on www.shorelinemusic.com
Any advice would be great.
Thanks
Larone

I don't have a b-band (btw, not all b-bands have mics in them), but I do have the Fishman prefix. The prefix has a piezo element under the saddle and a condensor microphone which can be blended. I like the system, as it can add a little edge to your sound beyond the piezo. The question is what do you want the system for...if you are going to use it to accompany dancers, then I do not recommend it. You should use a mic. The strumming sound if vastly inferior for any pick-up type system. However, if you're going to be doing rumba jams then I think the pick-up really works well.
