Hello,

I would like to ask you for some European supplier of top quality Italian/German… spruce BraceWood / BracingWood blanks/blocks? Beside usual qualities of stiff and light wood, accurate quarter-split ect. I am looking moustly and most importantly for blanks of wood with NO or realy minimum RUN-OUTS!!! I once bought several blanks of bracewood from Germany prized as best quality and while the wood was stiff and looked promising, it was ONE BIG RUN OUT. That can be very disappointing moment when you start splitting it to smaller pieces.

I am looking for seasoned wood only (not fresh), so I could start using it after few weeks or max. few months of acclimatization.

I heard for Rudolf Bachmann, Martin Guhl, Stefano Rivolta? Any experiences with them? Who would you prefer for great bracewood blanks I am looking for?

Thank you!

Bachmann Tonewoods has good quality and you can choose, how old the wood is. a friend of mine bought some bracewood from them and it came as violin soundboard logs. really good tonewood, but expensive, if i remember right. anyway, i think, there you will get, what your looking for.
and this is also a good source, have i heard: http://www.tonewood.ch/moonwood.html

I Recommend using Florinett in Switzerland for spruce billets. I find that most brace wood will have run out as they are the left overs of top making. It's easy to split them and use them with minimal waste though.

One of the best guitars I ever played had a top with a severe run out.

Thank you for reply! I think I will go with Martin Guhl or Bachmann spruce, whereever I will get seasoned wood for better price per quality. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

Fascinating. For anyone like me who passed by here out of interest and was a bit
baffled, the mist somewhat cleared for me when I went here.
