Does anyone has experience with so called "flamenco strings", as made by Hannabach?
I have tried them, couldnt see any difference. Maybe a marketing move to make flamencos buy these strings?

Yes. I have tried just about every type of string made for guitars within the last 53 years. I started when I was ten so you can do the math. [:D]

Strings are like religion. There are many choices, believers and disbeliveers. I think that your point about marketing applies as far as I am concerned.

Some strings sound good, last a long time, set quickly after being strung, play well, have consistent quality, are reasonably priced, and are appreciated by the guitarist. However, not all of these qualities are present in the same set of strings! [:D]

I have been using them for about 6 months. They just seem to sound better than others I have tried, but that's probably both guitar and player dependent. Also, I like the visibility ("reddish" color) of the trebles. My old eyes seem to pick them up better. Likewise the basses seem less "squeaky" than some of the others I've tried.

I don't get that brand shipped locally and I have never seen strings specifically for Flamenco before. Can I ask if any other brands carry that sort of strings?

(How is the lifespan on those strings btw? Any differance?)

I normally use classical strings and find they sound better. On my Sanchís 1F.PS Especial I use Savarez Chorum Alliance for treble and Hannabach blue Silver 200 for basses, also on my other guitars.

As I found the black and red colored trebles cut the brilliance. Therefore I don´t like them which is the same with the Hannabach Flamenco strings. But I´ve also tried La Bella 2002 Clear Trebles flamenco strings. They were really good but I denied to chose them because I couldn´t get single strings, especially D-Strings here in Germany. Last year I got a D´Aquisto flamenco strings (in Extra High Tension) as an advertisement present. I can´t remember whether they had black trebles for I only use carbon strings for trebles. But these basses by D´Aquisto made the outstanding extremely most powerful fat sound I´ve ever had. And their duration lasted conspicuously long. If I could single basses I directly woul order them.

Sometimes "flamenco" strings are simply brighter or snappier than the other strings by the same "maker". But yeah marketing is part of it all. The "flamenco strings" that really live up to their name is La Bella 820 Black trebles. It is surprising, but they are not great on EVERY guitar. Luthier strings don't advertise any thing as specifically "flamenco", but they are very flamenco too, IMO. (Although they are endorsed by PdL).

Oh really, the La Bellas? Hm got to try them then. Gecko I also like the orange trebles. They look really nice, wonderfull color, and its also fun to play them! I dont know if the sound is really different, but they surely have their advantages, at least for me.
Black strings dont look very nice imo, but i'll try them.

I once had La Bella classical strings, they were extremely very very bad sound quality, especially the basses. My guitar sounded like a steelstringed, really![>:]

Ricardo, I only get "Red Nylon flamenco" for the 820 one. They even have 2 different flamenco strings!: There is also a "2001 flamenco" version. But cant find the black ones!

Ps: I thought "Luthier" was PdL's strings?

I have not seen these coloued strings for Flamenco locally. What are the colours for? (Black, orange, etc.)

The 2001 are available with clear and black trebles, another series has red trebles.
