I recently had a go on one of these: https://www.siccasguitars.com/shop/guitar/yulong-guo-flamenco-2018/

I don’t play enough guitars in that price bracket to judge whether it’s value for money. What is this double top thing all about?

Also, it has fake traditional tuning keys. They stick out the back of the headstock like old-style pegs, but are in fact geared. This for me is a strike against it.

It sounded quite nice though. A cut above my own instrument.

Well, I’m familiar with the double top stuff but I never tried a flamenco double top.
There are 2 kind of double top: with a nomex inner core or with a balsa wood strips core.
Here in foro flamenco John Shelton documented the building of his first doublebtop Flamenca with nomex core. It’s really worth giving a look.

I recently got John Shelton's double top blanca. Will post review soon but for now I can attest it is a marvelous guitar with a deep, loud, and still muy flamenco voice. It also responds well to golpe and I would definitely consider it if you are into double top thing.

I have two nomex double tops by Canin. One is a blanca the other is a B. negra. Both are loud with much projection. In addition to good sustain and tremendous volume, both have great clarity, and the response on both is very quick, especially for the blanca. I have traveled with one of these guitars extensively and it seems more resistant to changes in humidity and temperature than most guitars.
