El Burdo -> Any travel advice please? (May 9 2018 14:55:05)

We are nipping across to Spain for a few days in September. Does anyone have any experience relating to places near or on this route? We've been to Seville, Jerez, Cadiz, Ronda and Moron before but this will be new. I think driving will be good in order to enjoy the open air a bit more.

You've been to Cordoba and Grandada for sure. If not you MUST go.
Remember the Bienal de Flamenco will be on in Sevilla (check it out here)
Apart from that, an interesting itinerary. Any particular background?

Looks great! You should add a small detour to Setenil de las Bodegas!

Arcos is worth a visit. Malaga along the coast via La Herradura and up to Granada and Cordoba is great, if you haven't done it before. Drop into my old valley of Lecrín for some wonderful, andaluz countryside.

You're driving right by the caminito del rey (near El Choro on the map) if you're into that kind of thing. Very easy and safe hike since they refurbished it a few years ago, but it might get the heart pumping if you're afraid of heights. Was too crowded for my taste when I went but honestly just the view from up there makes it all worth it.

Hi Ed, Simon - yes, we drove from Salobrena (sadly, graffiti everywhere) up to Cordoba a few years ago where apart from the Mosque and Cathedral I discovered Salmorejo! Beautiful scenery along the valley including a very weird gas station/restaurant. Been to Granada a few times over the years and I love the back streets in Málaga. It'd be great to go to the Bienal if we can find accommodation - I guess, like the Edinburgh festival it'll be an opportunity for the Sevillianos to make some money.
I think the trips are always a mixture of scenery, enjoyment of the day by day Spanish culture and if possible some good flamenco. So far I have only been to El Gallo in the 80s and Peña de Perla de Cadiz a few years ago. The festival would be great thanks. This route does include Utrera, Dos Hermanos and possibly some other significant flamenco towns.
Thanks Fred and Pwin, Setenil de las Bodegas looks possible and very interesting, esp. out of season and caminito del rey could be worth a hike. We did a great drive from Ronda to Malaga a while back. The scenery and vibe is wonderful. Thanks.

Thanks Payaso - it does look beautiful. Possible to get to on the way from Seville to Granada. Thanks.
