Some new videos from this guy. There's a bunch. Here's one with multiple Pepe Fernandez clones playing at the same time!:
https://youtu.be/hmDoLZ1fibw

Anyone know a trick to post YouTube embedded videos from IOS devices? In other words, only the copied link will appear here, not the video thumbnail.

This guy is the future. He has quickly become my #1 favorite over the last couple of months.
I'll help you out.

Everything old is new again[:D]

I don't know... he's inspired me more than anyone in a while. And his left hand, I have never seen anything like that. Makes me want to practice.

2003? he sounds exactly like Sabicas

Which one?
Personally I think the guy on the left has a lot more duende than the guy on the right.

NewPlayer -> RE: More Pepe Fernandez videos (Apr. 26 2018 20:23:31)

He needs to practice more....

Jason,

Thanks so much for sharing the link...this was my first exposure to Pepe Fernandez, and wow! I know Pepe is of Spanish heritage, but France is cranking out some impressive young players in Fernandez and Samuelito.

Andy, as the old guitarist saying goes, "what you know is in your left hand, who you are is in your right hand!"

On two entirely different sides of the spectrum in regards to style too.

His right hand amazes me too, the funk he brings is killer.
His workshop was amazing but you can only learn so much in a group class in an hour and a half. I got two groovy solea falsetas so far out of it. I've got videos of more to learn. Watching someone like him is just so much to absorb.

Plazoleño -> RE: More Pepe Fernandez videos (Apr. 27 2018 15:56:06)

Pepe is very good .
But nothin really new here. Listen his toque is very inspire by manuel parrilla. With a pincelada de diego.

JasonM -> RE: More Pepe Fernandez videos (Apr. 28 2018 0:22:21)

That's funny because Manuel Parilla's album just sounded like a regurgitation of Diego morao's stuff, but not as interesting, like I've heard it all before (wait...isn't that all flamenco [;)]). That's just my taste of course.

With Pepe, some of his stuff sounds familiar but I think he has some great new musical ideas and direction in his playing. He's not as avent garde as say... Dani de Maron

Parilla, tocaor a La Paquera y maestro de la Macanita, was flamenco from head to tail. He played flamenco, just as Moraito played flamenco.

Now, flamencito o que?

Manuel has an unique style of composing and playing. Listen again [;)]

Plazoleño -> RE: More Pepe Fernandez videos (Apr. 28 2018 16:11:36)

We dont speak of manuel parrilla uncle. But the sobrino.
Jason dont agree about pa mi gente album is regurgition of diego album .
There are similary ideas. It's normal because the prefered of manuel is diego and the prefered of diego is manuel.[:D]

But finally they have different toque different composition...
That not the case of pepe in bulerias his phrasing and idea is totally parrilla.

Dani de moron otra historia . Monster of compas and technic maybe the best of the four. But dont have melodic idea and harmony coherance. I like him accompagning but not his temas.

They’re talking about his nephew Manuel Parrilla, not Parrilla de Jerez. Also, he had a tail??? [:D]

Lo sé. Parilla y Moraito son los maestros. Los demás, estudiantes.
