Argaith -> Question for luthiers: Polyurethane vs Danish oil (Apr. 23 2018 14:26:44)

Hi,

Before you ask; no it's not for guitars:)

I have solid oak kitchen worktops that have been Danish oiled which I have to sand and re-apply every year or two.
Someone told me that I would get a more durable surface if I did Polyurethane.

What are your thoughts on this and if you think it's the right thing to do; can I apply polyurethane on top of the existing finish or do I need to sand till I get to the wood?

Many thanks for your advice in advance.

A
