¡Ole! I always like Cepero accompanying bulerias. Juanito Villar is great! Cool how Cepero's first falseta starts off quoting the Russian song Очи чёрные (Ochi Chornye = Dark Eyes). RNJ

He organised everything in the studio, dragged the cante out of Santiago and cleaned everything up. The CD should be called Paco Cepero with Santiago Donday. It is a tour de force, but of Paco. At least somebody managed to record Santiago (a real legend in Cádiz). I accompanied him once, por seguiriyas, but he was so drunk that he fell off the chair in the middle[:D]

It's funny you mentioned it, I have noticed some Slavic flavour in Cepero's toque before. Do you think he is inspired by очи черные or it's just coincidence?

Well he is quoting a whole 4-line verse note for note, so can't be a coincidence.

There's some subtle connections between slavic music and flamenco with the gypsy influence in both cultures.
