I received an email from one of the real scholars of the guitar, asking whether I had any support for the statement that Lopez made some guitars for Hernandez and Aguado. This man really knows his stuff. I have told people that if you ever get involved in a lawsuit over a guitar, you want him on your side. The story of Lopez making guitars for H y A is all over the internet---but so are a lot of other stories. I had to look around a little to remember why I was sure. Eventually I recalled seeing an interview with Lopez in the magazine "Orfeo." The pertinent part is on page 46 of the third issue, where Lopez says he made about 30 guitars from 1972 to 1975 for Hernandez, after Aguado passed away. Hernandez gave Lopez their labels, which he put in the guitars without his own signature. Years later, after Hernandez passed away, Lopez made more copies, accurate in detail, of Hernandez y Aguado's instruments, but included his own signature. When asked whether these copies sounded like the originals, Lopez replied that of course this was impossible. The woods were not from the same stock....etc. https://issuu.com/orfeomagazine/docs/orfeo_3_es RNJ
