Nice guitar, nice playing, sweet recording! Was the Romanillos headstock a special request, or your own initiative? Solitude: In 1991 I visited Vicente Camacho in Madrid. He is the only disciple of Modesto Borreguero I know about. Borreguero was the third of the famous oficiales of Manuel Ramirez. (The other two were Domingo Esteso and Santos Hernandez.) I asked Camacho whether he had apprentices or children who followed him in the craft. He replied, "No tengo ni discípulo ni nadie. Trabajo aquí solo, como San Jose." ["I have neither apprentice, nor anyone. I work here alone like Saint Joseph."] Joseph, the father of Jesus, was a carpenter. There is a tradition that he worked alone after his sons took to the road as itinerant preachers. Camacho said it with a smile, but it seemed a bit wistful. RNJ
