$40 Hauppage TV card, a couple of leads and Windows Movie Maker.

I can then burn seven tapes onto one CD.

Much easier to store, skip through and view. Smaller picture but you can't have everything.

Here's a sample http://www.foroflamenco.com/articles/Herrero/Herrero%20Solea.WMV

Does is come with software for making MPEG-II format so that you can burn it to an SVCD? I've heard that Denon DVD players will play SVCD burned from a PC.

I encoded to Windows Media to view on my computer but I could use AMCap to encode to AVI and then convert to large format SVCD, but I don't have a DVD burner.

That is a problem with AVI files. The best programs encode to MPEG-II on the fly which lets you capture an entire hour long video.

Good point again, I've never tried. This isn't high on my priorities as watching them on my computer is OK for me. Let me know if you crack it.
