Ruphus -> In Jesus´rear (Dec. 10 2017 7:39:55)

Today´s news report on a finding in the rear of a Jesus figure of a church in Sotillo de la Ribera, Burgos in Spain. The figure was about falling off from its cross, and a crack had opened at the butt, thus taken down for restoration.

The restaurateurs found a secret chamber in which the priest of its time (Joaquín Mínguez) had hidden info (on social life, economics, and epidemics) about his municipality in the year 1777. Apparently for future generations.

Looking at the pics, there came some speculative thoughts, about which I would like to see what our wood worms may be saying.

Thoughts:
The figure, unlike occasional others, specially from rural areas, seems to be made by quite a talented sculpturer.
As the priest mentions his name, I suppose the two to possibly have had relations too / the priest may have ordered the chamber. Remarkable to me how well the chamber was carved out. Evenly like with today´s power tools. Also the sawing of the "lid", eventhough not absolutely straight was done rather well.

However, different measures of shrinkage in the main body versus the smaller mass of the lid may have led to unevenness between rim and lid over time. Thus insertion of thin wedge. Further, as the priest might have been wanting access several times, there seem to exist traces of prizing open through paint and spatula at the dorsal section of the rim.

The maker of the figure might have been accompanying the priest´s access, seeing how both surfacing and later paint job appear to not be lacking behind the original job.

What thinks you?

The other picture. It wouldn´t upload in first post.

The chamber will be closed, besides, and copies of the original papers included, for evtl. future discoverers.

From the moment you implied the Priest and Sculpturer had "relations"....the entire rest of your post is extremely funny in a dirty or perverse way. [:D]

Oh man, I rarely use LOL literally, but LOL! The worst part is that I read it all this morning and didn't notice a thing...

Err ... uhm ... [8D]

All my life have I been lusting for Eva´s bouts (would you believe that I was already floored by the beautiful calfs of our kindergarten teachers when pupil of that place, without knowing what it all was about, naturally.)

-And later I would mostly behave overly knightly and sterile with the other sex, including those rather openly inviting me, only for to prove to myself that I was able of banning the insatiable hunger and focusing on personality.

Still, your imagination seems to be surpassing mine. Whatever priest and artist may have actually shared, I wouldn´t want to know it.
-Nuns´stories could be a different thing. For as long as one wouldn´t be reminded of newborn´s skeletons immured in monastery walls.

Seriously though, I was considering the term of "intercourse", but that appeared as even more dangerous English to me.
So how would a platonic relationship be termed best in the Anglo-Saxon minefield?

Morante -> RE: In Jesus´rear (Dec. 11 2017 14:52:56)

Following the trend towards foroporno[:D], I once had a girlfriend who was incredibly good at oral sex.

Turned out that she was or had been a nun and during missionary work in Africa intercourse with the priests was considered a sin, but a little chupa chup was acceptable.

Hyprocrasy of course, but who was I to complain?

You have just stated it best, Ruphus. A platonic relationship is best described as "platonic." No need for further description.

I think it just came to me (or as we say in Germany: "It fel like scale from my hair", err). Me should had written; "I suppose the two to possibly have been familiar with each other too", or better maybe: "-have been dealing with each other too".

PS:
I would had thought it sacrilege to saw off the holy son´s butt. No?

gerundino63 -> RE: In Jesus´rear (Dec. 12 2017 12:52:29)

Why did they make the hole so big that the total butt can be removed?
What did they want to insert in the first place?
The few paper rolls could easaly put trough a tiny hole.

Was there a hidden radio in from the resistance? Nighthawk, nighthawk, it is me, listen very carefully, I say this only once......Allo,........Allo.....

Jesus with the big buttcheeks

Ruphus -> RE: In Jesus´rear (Dec. 12 2017 15:21:11)

I was wondering about the same thing. All that straining chisel for some papers ... Either the priest wasn´t really certain about coming items to hide or he was indifferent to the sculpturer´s efforts.
- Or he used the chamber for deposit of precious goods in privacy which he removed again later on.

The catholic church -in contrast to the founder´s original idea- after all is known for not really renouncing property and luxurious life, and they used to appropriate real estate by routinely falsifying testaments of disciples and documents. It made them largest landowners on earth.

-I am being disgusted by the shameless and boundless appropriation of their younger sibling theocracy in Middle East, whose hypocrites do not even have a premise of humbleness, neither of continence (which besides for their counterparts of catholic clerics was only introduced in order to save the church´s assets), let alone of ascesis. (Not even hesitating with making themselves oriental billionaires! -Meanwhile not embarrassed to be shopping all over the western world.)
But their occidental colleagues in spite of philanthropic pretention can be just as greedy and reckless.

This belongs in the luthery section- so the Christian Taliban can tell lies about you.
