I began a Go Fund Me to present Simon with a gift from all of us to show our gratitude for his years of service to education and discussion on Foro Flamenco. Lets give him a break by buying him dinner! A few dollars, pounds, euros....from each of us and we can set him out on a dinner date with his lovely wife and a thank you for continuing to work on Foro Flamenco.

I want a receipt to make sure he's not spending it on foro-related stuff!

We've reached the goal of $220 for a night out for Escribano and Gina- So I think we should let it ride through the weekend and let all those to check the Foro on weekends get a chance to donate. Then I'll make arrangements to discharge the amount to Simon.

Thank you to those who have participated, excellent work. Whatever format the Foro morphs into, we need to remember to give proper appreciation and respect to the Simon and the management team.

Thank you

Thanks, Stephen, for allowing me the opportunity to show my appreciation for the immense contribution made by Simon to the flamenco community.

Hey everyone last I checked the dinner fund was about 345 dollars, with more pledged contributions on the way.

We're doing great. I'm going to end the drive on Mon. Afternoon at 4 pm Hawaii time.
After that save your donations for the next phase of the Foro.

Simon is promising to blow a huge wad of cash on dinner, and whats left over to cycle back into Foro development. I hope the chefs of Bath England are ready for them to throw down a fistful of dollars..er pounds...

And I have been busy here, so I will respond to each donor via Go Fund Me with a thank you when I get through Mon. Warm regards to each and every person who has donated, and even to those who have not had the chance, you're still very much welcome to enjoy the Foro regardless of how much you donate or not at all, we're here making it happen for everyone.

I want a report of the dinner!

estebanana -> RE: Let's buy dinner for Simon and his wife. (Nov. 6 2017 0:10:54)

Last time checked we are around 430 US dollars- the drive is open for 25 more hours, note the time stamp on this post.

I sent the invitation for Simon to transfer the funds into his bank. The fund drive lasts for one month, I misunderstood the directions. It will continue to be open another three weeks!

Please leave any wishes for Simon here and lets see how the event takes place, I'm sure he'll offer us a report. It takes 2 to 5 days for transfer..so we wait a little- and in the mean time you can always give more and it will go to some future arrangement to reinvent the the Foro with some type of subscription small fee.

So far we raised about $460.00 US

Brief update, banks are moving funds to and fro as banks do. Soon Simon will have the funds.

I'll make a little more formal announcement when the money is settled. Mean time thank you for support of the Foro.

estebanana -> RE: Let's buy dinner for Simon and his wife. (Nov. 21 2017 7:28:06)

I just transferred the funds to Simon. We together raised $465.00 Us or 341 GBP Considering our goal was $200.00 we did very well.

This took 10 ten days of bank transfer because I set up the Go Fund Me drive with my US email address. That caused a difficulty for Simon to withdraw the funds because the funds must collected in the base country of the campaign. Next time we need to set up the campaign in the UK. I made the transfer by sending it to my bank then to PayPal and on to Simon, so we lost a $2.33 on my transfer and the Go Fund Me site takes a small commission based on percentage. Over all the money collected was $490.00, plus 5% commission for Go Fund.
Next time we can host the collection drive from the Foro but Simon or a UK resident volunteer must set up the campaign in the UK.

Thank you one and all for your generous donations, and now we'll have to wait for the report on how it goes with dinner. In the near future I hope we can also have more discussion on some type of on going support for the Foro. This time I think it was important to show some long overdue support for all the time Simon has spent over the years keeping this train on the rails.

Money received and supper is being planned with many, many thanks to all. The rest goes towards the web site transition and I will keep you updated.

I have a backup from a couple of weeks ago and can't make a new one, so there will be a few threads missing when we upgrade.

Piwin -> RE: Let's buy dinner for Simon and his wife. (Dec. 29 2017 6:23:25)

Life has gone back to normal on the foro since last November when it seemed the foro was going to be shut down. Heck, we've even resumed insulting each other in the off-topic section [:D]
But the message about ongoing maintenance work is a reminder that Escribano is still hard at work behind the scenes to find a solution to keep the foro up. So it's worth saying one more time: thanks Escribano for what you're doing to keep this going!

Thanks Piwin. We haven't had that meal yet. A lot of flu' about. I have been busy recovering lost data and building a safer home for us... and it is nearly ready.

estebanana -> RE: Let's buy dinner for Simon and his wife. (Dec. 30 2017 11:54:21)

Thank you Simon, your work is appreciated. And I'm soon going to broach the subject of an ongoing support system of the Foro. Take your time to have that dinner out, or order in!

edguerin -> RE: Let's buy dinner for Simon and his wife. (Dec. 30 2017 13:24:47)

Thank you Simon for your commitment. All the very best for the New Year!!!!
