Escribano -> Need some help from the flamenco community! (Aug. 10 2017 8:51:40)

Can we reach outside of our community to help another.

My friend (from California) opened a new tattoo parlour just down the road from me. Marcus Kuhn is an artist of some international repute and a really, really good guy.

He is as passionate about his art as we are about flamenco.

He opened a couple of weeks ago but some bastards just set fire to his shop.

He is broke, after sinking all his savings into the place and he was so proud of his move to England, only to be kicked in the teeth.

Marcus is getting a lot of support from the city and the international tattoo community to get him back on his feet, and I was hoping that we can also show some solidarity.

If you can spare £5 leave a message on the funding page with a reference to us at foroflamenco (if you don't donate anonymously) so he knows we are thinking of him.

I have already donated and am helping him on the ground, but some more words of encouragement from another group of creatives might make all the difference.

I leave to you and thank you for any help you may be able to offer.

FYI - he had just opened to get some money back in and was waiting for the insurance quotes to come in, so he had no cover and it is unlikely it would have covered his loss of trade, to the extent of his waiting list.

Hi Simon,

Good initiative!

I have no facebook, but like to participate.
Is there an other way to contribute?

btw, nice work. I like his combination of old and new school, combined with his own "hand"

Besr regards,

Peter

Thanks Peter,

I don't believe you need a Facebook account to donate. But you could PayPal to me at my email address (at the top of the page) and I will give it to him this afternoon. I am taking some cash down to him from the advertising on the foro.

His work is top notch and respects the old masters, such as those in Japan, where he lived for a few years.

Thanks.

Hope things work out for him

Thanks for the donations I can see. We have nearly reached £5000 in 24 hours! A massive thanks. I took some money down this afternoon to help with his immediate cash flow and hung out for a while.

I hope he finds the will to fight back and continue his dream.

*bump* Marcus is aware of us and very appreciative of the gesture.

Gotta help a fellow Californio.

I shared it on my facebook page. Moving to a new place a starting business on your own is difficult enough without a a$$hole burning your place up.

I can see why you like him, he's that sort of gear head tat guy with old cars.

Thanks Stephen and others who are helping. He is an interesting fellow worthy of the support he is receiving.

Just a note to say that we managed to raise £10,000 and today I set up a computerised CCTV system for Marcus. Shop is refitted better than it was before.

He should be back in business next week. Thanks to those who contributed.
