Hello everybody

I'm from Switzerland, having a spanish name (Manuel) and living partime here in Valencia. After playing classical guitar 40 years ago, and then moving to electric Rock and Jazz guitar I recently bought myself a flamenco guitar from Francisco Manuel Diaz. An Instrument that I haven'd heard yet 'cos it's still in Switzerland and I have to pick it up first. And yes, I know it's risky, but helas......

By googling his Name I hit this Forum, and here I am. I certainly am to old to get a great Flamenco Player anymore, but exploring new musical areas is alway worth the effort.

Hasta la prossima, Manuel

Welcome to the foro!

If this is the same Manuel Diaz that is based in Granada (cuesta Gomerez), then you can rest assured that it will be a quality instrument. He's also one of the few I know in Spain who also knows his way around guitar restoration. If ever you have questions about that guitar, I would definitely not hesitate to contact him. He's nice and extremely knowledgeable.

edit: oh and one of his sons goes by the same name. I'm not sure how he labels his guitars. Probably something like Francisco Manuel Diaz Hijo. But I'd make sure you know which is which. I've never tried one the son's guitars so can't really speak to the quality of them, although admitedly he learned from his father so I have no doubt he knows what he's doing.

Hy Piwin

The guitar was made by Diaz himself in 1991 in Granada. That's what the handsigned tag inside says. I have'nt seen the instrument in real yet, but the pictures were promissing and the price pretty reasonable. It was on a swiss online plattform where people usualy don't expect handcrafted flamenco guitars to be sold, neither I did. I will know more when I'm back in Switzerland for a couple of weeks.
