For me even the silence he leaves has intensity and presence. I think that Diego is great at holding space for the singer to express themselves. When he does play a falseta it really counts.

From 2.30 space for the cante and falseta at 4.31

Totally excellent Sean! Thanks for that

For me no. He didn't play a single rasgueado until the end, no energy for solea there IMO. If I were the singer I'd be like, "why are you even here man? Ill just sing to my palmas if you are gonn give me that..."

It's just my taste of course.

That´s why he is so good. El maestro de silencio.

Reminded me of Nino Josele on Cigala's live in the Teatre Real disk. Certainly not like the Diego of Puro y Jondo.

Me gusta.

Ole!!!!

Very nice indeed

Well, for me the first guy to play like this for cante was Vicente, but he made it cool by punctuating with heavy rasgueados that made it very dramatic....agreed that josele picked it up with Cigala, and I remember thinking, "too much with this soft toque" ....it just was not as good as what Vicente was doing IMO....compare to his solea for Merce for example. Anyway, it started to become acceptable to accomp this way for a long time now. Diego with Zambo in puro y jondo ... just look at those face expressions....like "when are you gonna give me some ballz with your rasgueado dude???"....anyway it's just how I see it. I first saw Diego in Puebla de Cazalla in 1999, and his accomp was so weak compared to the fantastic ballsy Manolo Franco, and the audience reacted to this too.

Again it's just taste.
