Good find. I'm a fan of his work and some on there I'd completely missed like La Perla de Cadiz. Bit of weekend listiening on Spotify :)

Videos have him accompanying :
Agujetas,
Agujetas viejo,
Chozas
El Mono
Chicharrona
Aurelio Selles
Tia Anica Piriñaca
Etc

So I am sure his discography is much more extensive than that list. Rito y Geografia alone is a great source and I am sure he had a hand in it's production. I put him in same category as Mechor and N. Ricardo interns of historic importance as accompanist.

I guess it depends if you include video recordings shown originally in TV in the "discography" or just audio recordings released as vinyl/cassette/Cd.

I checked a few recordings I have of singers. Manuel Agujetas accompanied by Manolo Sanlucar, Parilla de Jerez, Curro de Jerez and Moraito; Manuel Soto El Sordera accompanied by Felix de Utrera; Tio Gregorio El Borrico accompanied by Paco Cepero; Tia Anica La Piriñaca accompanied by Parrilla de Jerez, Diego Carrasco and Juan Moreno (Manuel's brother). I could only find a couple of tracks of Juan Talega accompanied by Manuel Morao to add to the list. Not to say there aren't more out there to find though....

Wow, so I went looking and indeed he is not found so much as I would have thought! I guess the recordings he did do were so inspiring to me I just assumed he was more active as a recording artist....but apparently nothing like N. Ricardo or Melchor or even PDL in terms of out put. Even in the large manga antalogia he only appears with terremoto and perla. Well, if anyone cares I think his work in Rito y Geografia shows his versatility better than his discografy IMO.

mark indigo -> RE: Manuel Morao Discography (Jul. 15 2017 19:25:15)

I was surprised too that he didn't appear as much as expected (I have so many discs now I don't have time to listen to everything often enough and my brain can't keep up), agree with you about RyG, that shows how he was obviously working, but I guess live and not so much in the studio. Also there is a documentary from maybe the sixties, with a plummy BBC commentary, called "Where the unspeakable is sung" (Donde lo inexplicable es canción)
