PacoPaella -> RE: Where can I get PDL MP3s? (Jan. 30 2006 17:59:56)

I will send you the collected mp3's if you do 5 big gigs for me in high quality. Deal?

Gecko -> RE: Where can I get PDL MP3s? (Jan. 30 2006 19:26:32)

If you already own the music CD's or downloaded tracks why don't you just rip them to MP3 yourself? That's what I do. I use the standard Windows Media Player to do this, but there are a lot of free Ripping programs out there.

However if you don't own the music then you will have to buy it. I get mine from MusicMatch.

Miguel de Maria -> RE: Where can I get PDL MP3s? (Jan. 30 2006 20:02:28)

There's also the idea of buying his CDs and paying him for spending his lifetime working on flamenco.

Correction, its illegal to share stuff like this on ANY site, this one is no exception. Buy the CD, support the artists we appreciate so much.

You can also download PDL tracks from iTunes, they don't have a lot of stuff, but they do have some.

Conrad -> RE: Where can I get PDL MP3s? (Jan. 31 2006 4:02:22)

I concur, downloading is deplorable unless it is used as a purpose for sampling music before purchasing... My friends and I often share music to determine what we like, and what we want to purchase, but you should absolutely support these artists! They are gypsies, flamenco is a worthy music, please do not be a criminal... Young artists especially need the help (like Jesus de Rosario ;)) and Paco, of course, is endlessly deserving of your support. You will not regret buying all of his cd's.

I typically have new students come over with stack of blank CDrs after seeing my CD collection, saying "please copy for me only the good stuff!!". I just jot down a short list of my favorite CDs an a piece of paper, and where they can be puchesed from and hand that to them. "I say, buy these first with your hard earned money and LISTEN to them". The younger guys usually think I am some kind of A hole, LOL! [:D]

Ricardo,

Its really nice to hear that you do that with students.

The kids today are growing up , and learning the example
that music is free now, and nobody pays for it anymore.

we need to do what we can to stop this insanity.

Or nobody will be able to afford to make anymore records.

wow that is very cheeky. But maybe if they ask you politely for it, you would do it?

But this issue raises the question what will be in lets say 20 years if this development of paying nothing for cds goes on. Will music die?

Ps: Flamenco is not involved in filesharing, maybe some albums of Paco but not more. And besides the average flamenco listener is very willingful to spend money on it.

Skai -> RE: deleted... Sorry (Feb. 1 2006 8:37:53)

Ricardo, I support what you do, though I sometimes share samples of stuff I like with friends. Mainly because I'm trying to spread interest where I am, and frankly speaking, there's practically none.

I do so in hope that the 'Lord of Nylon Guitars' will bless me with great playing and musicality if I share my passion! [:D]

In spite of this, I actually love my small collection of CDs. Not many flamenco/classical guitar CDs though, I've bought practically everything worth buying that can be found locally. Ordering them will cost a bomb due to exchange rates and my pathetic allowance.

To give an idea of how miserable it is where I live, I bought a Paco Pena album 2 years ago and till now, it can't be found anywhere in Singapore. [:@]
