mrstwinkle -> Question: 'los metales' (Jun. 7 2017 10:01:06)

Seen several performances / songs called something with 'metales' in the title and I don't really understand the cultural reference and my Spanish is too basic. Is there some kind of implication that a 'metales' performance/singer is of a certain style? Is it the old metalworking link to flamenco? confused!

For example:

http://www.labienal.com/se-funden-los-metales/

or

https://play.spotify.com/track/0X9kqevpe0m3SxJ39xvM6P?play=true&utm_source=open.spotify.com&utm_medium=open

Ricardo -> RE: Question: 'los metales' (Jun. 7 2017 10:47:08)

I would never in my right mind open that Spotify S H I T!!!!!!!!!

The other link was a concert title referring to melting metal. I seriously don't get a need for a title of a cante concert as letras are improvised and don't need to be thematic so, whatever. These spoiled whipper snappers probably never set foot in a forge like agujeta and family. [:D]

Another example:

Problem with googling the issue is I keep getting sidetracked by references to flamenco-metal...

"Se funden los metales" is probably referring to how "hot" they are. Enough to melt metal. Not sure if it has any flamenco connotation.

edguerin -> RE: Question: 'los metales' (Jun. 7 2017 12:47:13)

"metal de voz" means as much as "timbre".
So "se funden los metales" also means that the two singers let their voices "melt" together.

Yep, so that other link was "between (guitar) strings and vocal timbres"

What about metaleros? [:D] \m/

Makes sense in this context:

"La fusión a la que se refiere el título de esta obra es la unión de dos de las voces más reconocibles del panorama flamenco actual"
