rainbow -> Which guitar should i buy? (Jun. 6 2017 17:36:10)

hello, i want to buy me my first flamenco guitar. it should not be to expensive, because i want to take this guitar outsite to the river and lake. i dont want to play only flamenco on it, because this, the sound shoult not be to extremly other to a classic guitar and i need a cutaway to play some songs better from other genres like pop, classic or folk. ive only
found the ALHAMBRA 3FCWE1 and the angel lopez flamenco guitar. or it is better to buy a classic guitar with a little flamenco sound, is there something like that? my old guitar for this is a hopf guitar, but the strings are to high and i cant make them lower anymore. have anyone a idea?
thanks

I have a Valeriano Bernal Prodigio, the cheapest model they make, for just that sort of purpose. It hangs on the wall above the sofa for easy access, and I put it in a Hiscox case, throw it in the check-in luggage for flights, and don't worry about it.

Buy a Gerundino, the best beach guitar ever. It is good for other things too, like accompanying cante.

You can have mine for only 8,000 euros[;)]

why bother with such cheap stuff? why not go for a Manuel Reyes?[8D]

Don't commit too much money is my advice. Most on here will mock the mass produced abominations, but a cheap Cordoba or Yamaha will be fine to discover whether you like playing flamenco. Probably Cordoba if you want a cutaway, but beware not a lot of flamenco actually needs one.

A flamenco guitar with cutaway?

Yes you might want to check with andalusian guitars. They might be open to such innovations.

The diagram below shows a kind guitar maker at work, installing a soundport and cutaway for a happy customer.

Hi rainbow.

(Firstly, I am not a flamenco guitarist. I am very much a beginner so take this with a pinch of salt!)

I bought the thomann.de 1f flamenco guitar. It is well priced at 159€. Has the blond look if that is what you want. there is a second colour available otherwise.

It is loud. It is light. It plays very well. It has a slight buzz on the frets the louder you play, but this is avoidable if you dont like that sound. It is thinner than classical guitars. I like it a lot. It is however my first owned nylon string guitar. I have played a few though. If you are just starting out and 159€ is manageble I can highly recommend this for you. My idea is that if I get good eventually, I will save up for a 'better' flamenco guitar, handmade if possible. But I might not get to that point..

I have played steel string for almost 30 years, so I do get guitars and sound and feel, just to put this purchase in perspective.

Anyway, thats my input, hope it helps...

Thomann Flamenco Guitar

(EDIT: Oops, this could be a decision maker or breaker, the action is a little high for flamenco according to what I have read and heard so far, but I don't have anything to compare it to first hand, and action can be lowered by a mm or maybe 2 if needed.)

on all this post was only one reasonable proposal. a few thousands of euros are not cheap and none of them has a cutaway. and no, im not searching a normal flamenco guitar, im searching a guitar, which sounds a bit like that. i dont want to play a ballad with a sustain from a half second. and this board here looks like a troll forum. its realy paltry, the level in every hiphop or drug board is higher than here. are flamenco guitarists always so? why nobody have destroyd you and your guitars on the street, when everybody who asked you a question, you diss him?

Piwin -> RE: Which guitar should i buy? (Jun. 8 2017 10:08:41)

Geez, lighten up. Most of the replies were trying to be helpful and if you had followed the suggestion to search the forum you would have found hundreds of good replies to your question.
And yes the rest of us were joking around, but not at your expense. Ligthen up.
This question has been asked and answered a zillion times, which you would have seen if you had bothered searching the forum even just for one second.

i have found nothing in the search. ive only found the threat with cordoba, but it was not the whole question. and where are they helpful? do you go to a crime quarter with a 8000 euros guitar?! what should i do with a canoes when i want a guitar?!

Helpful posts:
Escribano - search the forum
mark indigo - V. Bernal Prodigio
mrstwinkle - Cordoba
Irish - 1f Thomann flamenco

If you're having trouble searching the forum, you may want to try to change the search parameters to get better results.
Between Cordoba and Alhambra 3F with cutaway, I'd choose the latter. But that's my personal preference and others here would definitely prefer a Cordoba. Cheap mass-produced guitars always carry a high risk of varying quality. One of the same brand might sound decent and the other will sound like crap. So when it comes to these kinds of guitars, any recommendation should be taken with a grain of salt. I personally wouldn't buy a cheap guitar like that without trying it out, which means either to arrange for going directly to the seller or if you're buying off the internet, making sure there's a return policy of some sorts.
Yamaha probably also makes that kind of guitar. If you want to buy a classical, lower the action, throw on some golpe plates, put some high tension strings on and you can get flamenco-ish. It'll probably be cheaper (Ibanez makes guitars like that with cutaways that cost around 150-200EUR) and high tension strings with proper technique can make any nylon string sound somewhat flamenco.

I have a beaten up Valeriano Bernal Gitano for exacting the same thing. It spends a fair amount of its life strapped to the back of my motorbike. I reckon low end Bernals are great value for money, and they smell like proper guitars too!

Dudnote -> RE: Which guitar should i buy? (Jun. 8 2017 11:22:48)

If I search "Alhambra" I get over 300 hits.

Good luck in your search for your dream guitar.

Hi rainbow, I am sure you will understand that as I run this forum and pay for it out of my own pocket, you are asked to leave for your most unreasonable attitude.
