mrstwinkle -> D'Addario PW-CP-16 NS Lite Classical Capo (May 28 2017 20:30:36)

I got one of these as I was after a lightweight clampdown type capo. According to Amazon, weight is only 5 grams.

Bought from Amazon here in UK - not sure if posting links to sellers, even Amazon, is frowned on here so won't but can if given the all-clear and anyone shows interest.

Basically it is lightweight plastic and doesn't FEEL particularly strong, but had for almost a year now and not had issues with reliability. Tightens by turning a wheel on the side. Not quite as quick as a spring-loaded metal clampdown type, but the reduced weight is worth it IMO.

One issue I did have is that it is designed for classicals so the width of the pincer motion of motion meant it couldn't quite tighten down enough on the thinner neck. I fixed by wrapping a little black electricians tape around the back approx five times to add just a mm or so extra thickness, so it clamps down tight now. Using with high tension strings at the moment and has no issues giving sufficient pressure to work.

it is black and low profile so while not 'attractive', is unobtrusive and minimalist.

Thumbs up from me.

I saw only yesterday that Shubb do a "lite" version of their capo that they say is made of aluminium and half the weight of the original one.
