nmertaugh -> Out of Print Flamenco CDs? (May 25 2017 15:19:20)

Hey guys is it against the forum rules to ask around if anyone has any particular CDs to sell? Don't want to break the rules, but it would be really helpful (at least in my opinion) if we had a place to offer or request hard to find CDs/LPs.

Would anyone else find that useful? Moot point if it's against the rules of course...

Thanks!

Not a bad idea and as long as it are all originals being sold i don't see any laws being broken.

I've some video tapes (but no machine) - could they interest you?

Thanks for weighing in Erik van Goch ! I agree :-)

Dudnote - I only collect CDs and DVDs/blurays, but I'm sure some people collect VHS tapes. That's what would be neat about posting a list of what you want to buy or want to sell, the right people can be connected!

I have lots of flamenco CDs, including the complete official recordings of camaron complete with a loose leaf folder with a page analysing each cante.

I never listen to recorded flamenco any more[:D]

I'd be psyched to buy some of your Cameron collection Morante. When I get back home from travels I'll get in touch about titles etc.

If you’re after particular CDs, try Discogs: their cataloguing system, their software and their selection are all light years ahead of Amazon’s.

(Usual disclaimer.)

The composer and performer's rights last a long time, whether the CD is in print or not. But this does not stop the reselling of original CDs, cassettes, VHS tapes etc., which is perfectly legal (in the UK, anyway). Selling of copies or downloads is not to be encouraged.

I have all the CD's already, but interested in the info on the cante.... is that "official" or your own? can it be copied and shared? or sold separately?

Hola

This is a compilación de José Manuel Gamboa and Faustino Núñez, publicado por Altaya. It consists of 23 CDs arranged by palo.

The accompanying folder offers a short explanation and a ficha técnica of each palo, which names artists, tone of the cante, place of cejilla, identificación of the palo and the letra.

This folder is an integral part of the collection and falls under the same copyright.

As a producer, I hate pirates and am not willing to copy any part of this work. Nor am I willing to separate the two integral parts.

I hope you understand.

Un saludo

Morante

completely, I always buy official/commercial releases where available rather than copying/pirating.

i thought perhaps "loose leaf folder" was something you had put together yourself, or otherwise unofficial info.

I have all the (bought) CD's, so have all the letras and titles etc. but always interested in more information about what i'm listening to.

I guess this is the booklet we are talking about.

Seems to be the one. Reasonable price if you have all the CDs. The set cost me about 100 euros some years ago.

I do own a 21 cd integral Camaron box but aside of the photographs this booklet won't do me much good since unfortunately i don't speak Spanish.

I agree Paul, Discogs can be an extremely valuable resource. For Flamenco, it doesn't seem to be as well maintained/curated as some other genres, but that's on us as an audience and user base to rectify ;-)
