Just meeting Paco Cepero would have been one of the high points for me. While Paco Pena is my favorite running the international circuit because, as I've written before, he is the nearest thing to "traditional" guitarristas, I place Paco Cepero as my favorite of the "old timers" still playing (even though he doesn't run the circuit). And I'm sure you will appreciate that Paco Cepero is one of the greatest accompanists, particularly in his earlier gigs. In fact, I think Ricardo commented earlier, and I certainly agree, Paco Cepero may just be the finest all-around flamenco guitarist today.
I have always loved baseball, and I will use a baseball analogy to describe Paco Cepero. I have always thought, and still do, that Willie Mays was the best all-around ball player bar none. There may have been others who hit more home runs, stole more bases, got more extra base hits, scored more runs, etc. But Willie Mays did it all, and many times he was the National league leader with the Giants in several of those pursuits. And his overall record demonstrates how good he was overall. I think of Paco Cepero in the same way. There may be others who were technically more advanced, who had a wider repertoire, etc. But Paco did it all and did it well. The Willie Mays of flamenco!
