flamencoLVR -> My Carpal Tunnel Success (Sep. 23 2016 20:16:09)
|
Bought Cordoba F7 to learn more flamenco guitar. Noticed numbness in fingers of left hand. A neurologist test and confirmed serious carpal tunnel problem in left wrist, less problem in right wrist. Surgery was more involved than I expected, general anesthesia and recovery in hospital bed for a few hours. One month later fingers have no more numbness, wrist is somewhat tender. I got up courage to try playing guitar, went very well. I have been a motorcyclist most of my life and done a lot of typing on PC's and other work with hands, now 77 years old. I found out that carpal tunnel problems can get much worse over time, so that surgery can prevent further nerve damage. Some cases only require orthoscopic (sp?) surgery but mine required regular surgery because of extent of inflammation. My next challenge will be getting knee joint replacement surgery and rehab.
