ric -> New carbon strings, anyone? (Sep. 14 2016 13:40:49)

Strings are funny things. My Montalvo liked the (expensive) Hannabach custom basses with their carbon tops. Moving on to my Ethan Deutsch string search was a challenge and thought I found my string for life in the newer D'addario Pro Arte carbons (EJ45FF)which are rich and complex and compliment the percussive dry sound of the guitar.
Recently I re-tried the LaBella flamencos and HATED the trebles but liked the full tight sound of the basses, so I emailed labella asking if they had any carbon models. "We're coming out with them in a few weeks" was my answer and now I'm enamored with the LaBella Vivace VIV-H (high tension) strings. Maybe one or two websites have them so far in the U.S., so if anyone wants to be second on their block to try them--about $14 with free shipping. YMMV, but they work (great) for me!

I bought a guitar that had Savarez Tomatito strings on it, liked them, and tried them on another guitar with also good results. They have a carbon 3rd string. I don't like all the trebles carbon, but I have replaced the 3rd string on other sets with a carbon 3rd with good results.
