f.j.w. -> Hello from newbie! (Aug. 21 2016 10:16:22)

Hi Everyone

Just a short message to introduce myself. I am a violin maker who used to play the electric guitar when he was young and silly. I have not played the guitar for 15 years now. I have always wanted to play the guitar again, but I knew that I did not want to go back to playing rock music. I play a lot of classical music on the violin, but I felt that I needed another musical approach, less intellectual.

So one day about a year ago I just decided to try flamenco. I bought myself a cheap 2nd hand classical guitar on Ebay and booked a lesson with a local teacher. Became addicted instantly. It is just exactly what I needed musically. I am still not good enough to play with other people but I hope that I can soon begin to accompany dancers. This would be tremendous fun. I practise daily.

As I am a violin maker I want to build myself a flamenco guitar. I have not yet decided which kind and this is the reason why I have joined the forum. I am hoping to be able to ask a few questions about the construction of the instrument. Things like body size vs scale length etc. I have already read lots of posts from the forum, and it has been very helpful so far. So thank you to all of you who have participated in the past!
