How do you guys deal with string noise on 520's or any rectified treble really? Really like the red cards in terms of tension and sound but the scratchy-ness in sound is a bit much sometimes and bothersome. Is it one of those you either love it or hate it things?

I don't know what a rectified nylon string or what a red card is. But my typical approach towards strings that I don't like are to take them off of the guitar. [8D]

The red card basses sound good but wear out too fast (I suspect the alloy in the windings has a lot of silver) but my main problem with the trebles is not the squeak but the fact that the 1st string frequently won't play in tune. From my experience it wouldn't surprise me if 1/3 - 1/2 or all the 1st strings are bad.

If you like Savarez strings you might give the Savarez Alliance a try. I personally really like Alliance basses with Crystal trebles but don't use them due to the price.

I use Savarez Alliance combined with Hannabach Blu 815 Silver Special basses. They sound quite good on most guitars. The first 3 days the trebles sound like a cheap plastic bag, but then they turn to fine storng brilliance.

I've been using Savarez Red Cards on my '67 Ramirez 1a blanca since it was new, and on my '82 Arcangel Fernandez blanca since I bought it in 2000. I've never had a problem with scratchiness. Are your nails smooth?
