Hola gente.
Looking for a good opening tientos falseta for my lady's choreography. She likes really melodic lyrical stuff so some sort of arpeggiated melody would be great. Anyone have any suggestions??
Grassyass!

Hola! The opening of "Tientos del Mentidero", by PDL is just magical, full of arpeggios and melodical stuff.

Ah that is really nice, forgot about that one. Thanks! That Juaniti video helps a lot!

Well, I really like that one but the lady turns out does not [:@]
Good thing I didn't out serious time into it.lol She says "too happy, something darker."
Any other suggestions??

Moloko -> RE: Good tientos opening falseta (Aug. 16 2016 1:42:06)

Wow, but dude i find it sooooooo dark [:(][:(][:(] You can try "Llanto A Cádiz", i find i quite dark... anyway, don't know a lot of "Dark" tientos hahaha

If there's anything in Sanlucar's Recreacion that you like I can send you a tab. No idea how hard it gets though.

Here's a tutorial on that one...

hmm, I feel like I should give that a go. Hardly played this last month, but this might get the ball rolling again.

Leñador -> RE: Good tientos opening falseta (Aug. 16 2016 3:59:56)

I love all these! Let's see what the jeffa says. [:D]

El Kiko -> RE: Good tientos opening falseta (Aug. 16 2016 11:55:27)

Little bit of work on this one but your very own Jason Mcguire has an interesting one , not too happy

Maybe remind her that not everything in flamenco is supposed to sound like an alegrias silencio? [8D][;)]

Leñador -> RE: Good tientos opening falseta (Aug. 16 2016 13:45:35)

Hahahaha that's exactly the problem!!! That's why she hates bulerias! It gets a bit maddening. I'll say "did you hear that???? Amazing!!" And she'll say, "meh". Then I pull my beard out.

but your very own Jason Mcguire

Cus were both chubby and ginger???? Lol
I do really really like that one though, a modified version of that is probably gunna be the one. Stand by. [:D]

However,,, now you mention it .......
.
He may even do a slow vid with an explanation if you asked him nicely ...but yeah I would say modify away and make it your own .... send it back to Mr McGuire , he may be interested on your take on it ..

Over the covers for sure! What am I a communist??? On this issue there shall be NO DEBATE!

I think I could pluck out Jason's if I run it through transcribe. I'll post in the swap shop once complete. [:D]

Mark2 -> RE: Good tientos opening falseta (Aug. 16 2016 16:18:49)

Why is it her choice? Do you tell her what steps to do? Uh, since it's your girl I think I know the answer but the bigger question is why should a dancer get to dictate the falseta? I have been asked by dancers to play specific falsetas even if the originals were in different keys, and I complied, but I think that was wrong of them to ask and wrong of me to do it. It's your moment dude! Play what you want!!

mark indigo -> RE: Good tientos opening falseta (Aug. 16 2016 16:31:47)

i often have problems with Tientos finding suitable falsetas that work for dance choreographies when they want it reeeeaaaally slow (I play Tientos de Mentidero, and at the slow speed I'm sometimes asked to play it just falls apart, so I don't use any of it).

I played the Jason McGuire vid again, and this popped up after in on autoplay, might be useful

Leñador -> RE: Good tientos opening falseta (Aug. 16 2016 17:40:46)

Hahaha I hear you but there's a couple reasons. When I work with other dancers I don't roll over so easy. With her, she's a student dancer who basically learns one solo per year or so and performs it live once a year or so. Basically it means so much more to her than it does to me so I do what I can to make it everything she wants. I tend to get a lot more opportunities to express myself and perform so it's no skin off my back to give her this.

Hey that's Aloysius! Those are awesome falsetas!!

Piwin -> RE: Good tientos opening falseta (Aug. 16 2016 18:15:51)

If you want to go full-out modern, you could pick some bits and pieces out of these. The Concha Buika one has a really nice tune to it. Whether it's technically tientos is another issue I guess...[8|]

Sounds like you need a short one for negotiating purposes, just to show how helpful you're trying to be. [;)]

This one from Gerardo is on iTunes:

"Llorando Ante Cristo Estoy" (Tientos) Gerardo Nuñez & Juan Ramón Fuentes Album: "Me Sabe Amargo"

I wish I could pull those off! They're a bit over my head in terms of being able to properly replicate and slide into tientos por baile. I love that concha video, it's been on my YouTube playlist for a while now.

Great tip! What a good album! It's real brief so I could probably slide that little lick in a lot of places.

Piwin hit the nail on the head, I couldn't describe exactly what she likes but I'd know it when I heard it and it's exactly what he said, she wants ALL flamenco to sound like a silencio. It's all so clear now lolol

Leñador -> RE: Good tientos opening falseta (Aug. 26 2016 2:38:35)

Okay, here's what I done come up with after all that. Simple, weird, kinda melodic. Dime que.

Dudnote -> RE: Good tientos opening falseta (Aug. 26 2016 3:09:06)

Nice man! How does your good lady like it? [:)][:)]

Leñador -> RE: Good tientos opening falseta (Aug. 26 2016 3:56:33)

She says she does, I'm sure it's no silencio. [;)]

Thanks Leñador, I completely forgot that I'd filmed those. I'm still playing exactly the same stuff for tientos, plus one I picked up from a Diego del Morao youtube clip that I'll post if I can find it again. I really need to spend time on this thread for some more ideas. When I accompany long tientos escobillas I find myself repeating the same stuff a lot so I need to come up with some stuff that works well with feet. Nice work with your intro.
